It is our mission to drive cultural change to end social violence, guided by our three pillars: Education, Awareness, and Partnerships & Advocacy. We take a public health approach to the prevention of social violence by educating young people, raising awareness, and creating change at an institutional level. To spread awareness about the consequences of social violence, Step Back Think runs presentations for schools and sporting clubs. We also run campaigns by encouraging Australian sporting clubs of all codes, levels and ages to show their commitment to ending social violence.
Social violence – physical violence between strangers, acquaintances and friends in a social setting – has claimed the lives of 20 Australians in 2017.
